Our Faith & Beliefs

At Palmyra church of Christ, we are devoted to the truth of God's Word and the foundation of our faith: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God the Father

We believe in one true and living God, the Creator of all things, who reigns with love, justice, and mercy. He is our Father, full of grace, wisdom, and power, guiding us in His perfect will.

"Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live." – 1 Corinthians 8:6

Jesus Christ, the Son of God

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, He provided the way for salvation and eternal life. We follow His teachings, seek to live as His disciples, and proclaim His gospel to the world.

"Jesus said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’" – John 14:6

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within believers, guiding, strengthening, and transforming us to live according to God's will. The Holy Spirit convicts us of truth, empowers us for service, and unites us as the body of Christ.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you." – John 14:26

Our History
For over a century, our church has been a place where faith, fellowship, and community come together. Our original building stood for 113 years, serving generations of worshippers in Palmyra, Indiana. In 1984, the structure was removed due to extensive damage and high repair costs, but our mission remained strong. A new building was constructed, and we’ve continued to grow as a church family rooted in the love of Christ. Our worship includes Biblical preaching, weekly communion, a cappella singing, and a strong commitment to serving others. Today, we remain an active, welcoming congregation offering worship services, Bible studies, youth programs, and community outreach. No matter where you are on your faith journey, you’re invited to join us as we grow together in God’s love.

About Us

We are a Christ-centered, Bible-believing congregation dedicated to growing in faith, serving our community, and sharing the love of Jesus. Our mission is to follow the teachings of Christ, support one another in fellowship, and spread the message of hope and salvation.
At Palmyra church of Christ, we believe in the authority of Scripture, the power of prayer, and the importance of living out our faith daily. We come together for worship, study, and service, striving to reflect God’s love in all we do. Whether you’re new to the area, seeking a church home, or simply curious about faith, we welcome you with open arms.
Join us as we grow in Christ and make a difference in our community. We look forward to worshiping and serving with you!

Our Sermons

Our sermons are Bible-based, Christ-centered, and focused on practical application for everyday life. Whether you're seeking guidance, encouragement, or a deeper understanding of God’s Word, our sermons are designed to inspire and challenge you.

How to Become a Child of God

God's Plan for Our Salvation

At Palmyra Church of Christ, we believe that becoming a child of God is the most important decision anyone can make. The Bible clearly lays out God's plan for salvation, guiding us step by step toward a new life in Christ. Each step is vital because it draws us closer to God and aligns us with His will.

1. Hear the Word of God

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17

Everything starts with hearing God's Word. The Bible is how God communicates His will to us. By listening to the message of Jesus Christ, we learn about God's love, our need for salvation, and how to follow Him. Hearing is the foundation of faith—it opens our hearts and minds to the truth.

2. Believe in Christ and the Word of God

“And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.” — Romans 11:6

Belief is more than just agreeing with facts—it’s trusting in Jesus as the Son of God and Savior of the world. We accept His grace, knowing we cannot save ourselves through our own efforts. Faith gives us the confidence to follow Christ and surrender our lives to Him.

3. Repent of Your Sins

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” — Acts 2:38

Repentance means turning away from sin and choosing to live according to God’s standards. It’s a conscious, heartfelt decision to change direction—leaving behind our old life and stepping into the life God desires for us. True repentance is a sign of genuine faith and the beginning of spiritual renewal.

4. Confess Jesus as the Son of God

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9

Confessing Christ publicly shows the world where your faith lies. It affirms your belief that Jesus is the Son of God, and it’s an essential step in making your faith personal and real. This confession is both a declaration and a commitment to follow Him.

5. Be Baptized (Immersed in Water)

“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that... we too may live a new life.” — Romans 6:3-5

Baptism is where we put our faith into action. Through immersion in water, we are symbolically buried with Christ and raised to a new life, washed clean from sin. It's not just a ritual—it's a powerful spiritual transformation and the moment when we become part of God’s family.

6. Remain Faithful

“Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10

Salvation isn’t a one-time event—it’s the beginning of a lifelong journey. God calls us to grow in faith, serve others, worship regularly, and stay committed through life’s challenges. Remaining faithful keeps us connected to God and prepares us for eternal life with Him.
